History of India
History of india is the foundation of our being? And where have we been
for a hundred years? Why should we not believe the Hindus in their
history, religion, and philosophy; the Chinese in their philosophy
and the Confucius-school; the Greeks in their gods, gods, and
philosophy; the Jews in their traditions; the Persians in their
history, legends, and religion; the Mohammedans in their God, the
Prophet, and the Koran; the Romans in their worship, gods, and
legends; the Scandinavians in their gods, priests, and traditions;
the Chinese in their traditions, and the Buddhist in their
Tradition. Where shall we look for the foundation of mankind, to wit,
the creation of the world? Where are the first men?
Our history, that is, our tradition, goes back many thousand years.
It commences with our race, who inhabited the earth millions of
years ago. And even our Bible, the best of all histories, goes back
only to the time of Abraham. It is the story of the first four
patriarchs and patriarchs, or fathers of families, who are said to
have been about 1,700 years in coming into the world. In this world
there have been many great and wise men, but the number,
notwithstanding their genius, have not been sufficiently large to
make a new world or a new time. Our best historians and the most
learned men cannot go back more than 20,000 years, and there have
been millions of them.
But the Hindus go back to many thousand years ago; they say they have
heard of our race, and they believe in our history.
A Hindu has been as good a witness as the Christian historian, and
yet the history of India goes back to nearly 15,000 years. The
history of India is also the history of the world, and its history
goes back to about 2,000,000 years before our Christian Bible, or
about 30,000 years ago. They have lived longer, and have a more
thorough knowledge of the world.
The history of the Hindus contains an account of the creation of the
world, and of the progress of the human race, not only to this age,
but for many thousands of years to come. In this respect it is a
better history than that of our Bible. The history of the Jews goes
back only to 2,000 years before Christ, and our own is much more
recent than the history of the Hindus. The Bible was not written for
a hundred years after the Mosaic account; the history of the Hindus
is at least fifteen or twenty thousand years old, or it is written
since they are said to have begun to know of us. It is the best
history, as well as the most ancient, the most complete, the most
faithful, and the best authenticated, of any history of the world.
The Bible history is very deficient in many points. The world was not
inhabited by men for hundreds of thousands of years; nor was the
land habitable, nor was the history true, nor was the world made in
6 days, nor were Adam and Eve the only parents of the human race. The
history is a patchwork. The book of Genesis is only history about
500 years. The rest of the book is the fable of many different
authors. It was only introduced, by the Jewish priests, when it was
convenient, or a new story was necessary.
The Mosaic account is a patchwork. Adam and Eve were not the only
parents of the human race, nor were they the first parents of the
human race; nor were they made of one rib. The account is a
patchwork. It gives the names and descriptions of many kings, as
well as other persons, who lived thousands of years before Christ,
many of them before Adam and Eve were created.
Our history is the Bible history, or a patchwork history; but we
believe that God himself created the world, and all the creatures in
it, as the Hindus say, with an infinity of years before Adam and Eve
came into the world. And we believe that the Bible history is a
patched-up history, just as the Hebrew history is.
The history of the Hindus is the same as the history of the world.
And, as it is the history of the world, it is a better history than
that of our Bible, because it is true, it is more ancient, it is
more complete, and it is more trustworthy. If all the Christian
historians were to go to India and take the history of the Hindus,
and write it for themselves, it would go back even as far as the
Christian Bible, which is not true. The same is true of every
history of the world.
I believe that the history of the Indians is true; and if it is not
true, it would be just as true if the Indians had all died out and
disappeared. The same is true of the Jews and the Mosaic account;
and the same is true of all the Bible history.
The book of Genesis is a patchwork. It says that God created man in
his own image. How did God create a man? How was God made? The
scripture does not tell us. And, if this was not true, it would be
true as true if the Indians had all died out and disappeared. We can
not tell when God made Adam. The Bible says he made man in his own
image. Why, God was not made. The world was not made, as the Hindus
say, with an infinity of years before Adam was created.
In ancient times, before the Christian Bible existed, the Greeks
wrote more, and the historians of Europe and Asia, at the present
time, write less than in the time of Herodotus, and yet we say that
their histories are as true as they were five or six hundred years
ago. The same is true of the Bible history, which is a patchwork of
many different writers, and of several different ages. The books
that contain the history of the world and the history of the Bible
were written many hundred years after the writers of them were
living. They are more ancient, and they are more complete than the
Bible, which is the Bible history, and a patchwork history.
The history of the Indians has all the advantages of the Indian
history; it is the best history of the world. It has never been
written in any country for thousands of years; it has been written
for nearly fifteen thousand years, and, if the Hindus were not
living, it would be as old as any history of the world. It is the
best authenticated and best attested history of the world.
And, if it is true, the same history, the Indian history, is true of
the world.
SECTION XV.
WE CREATE.
That is to say, the world is older than we are. The old religions
believe the world was made in 6 days. The Bible says that man was
made in the image of God, and that God made man in his own image, in
the first place. The Bible is not a patchwork history. It is an old
history; it is ancient history. It is an ancient history, and, if it
was not true, it would be just as true if the Hindus were to die out
and disappear, and were no longer in existence. It would be just as
true, as true as the history of the world, as true as the world's
history. The same is true of every history of the world.
The Hindu religion is the greatest of the old religions. The world
has not been created and governed by any one. A few gods have
invented the whole world, and are the cause of its being. But the
religion of the Hindus is the greatest of all religions; it is the
true religion. The religion of the Hindus has produced the best
literature. And, if it is not true, the same is true of every
history of the world; that is, it would be just as true as the
history of the world, if all the nations who believe in the Hindu
religion were to die out and be no more.
SECTION XVI.
OF THE NATURE AND POWER OF THE CREATOR.
God is omnipresent. He dwells with us. He is everywhere. He is
within and without. He dwells in the human heart. He dwells in the
bodies of all men, and of all the living and the dead. God is
nothing more than the great Power and Intelligence of all the
wonders that surround us. He is everywhere. God is omnipresent. He
is all power and all intelligence. We know not where to find Him,
for we cannot go out of our selves. God is all power. He is all
intellect. He is the great and first power of the world. He is the
great and first power in the universe, or in the whole creation. He
is God.
SECTION XVII.
OF THE FIRST MAN.
There are seven men in this world. They are the seven planets. The
first man is the earth. The second man is Jupiter, the third, Saturn,
the fourth, Mars, the fifth, Venus, and the sixth, Mercury. They are
seven men. Seven men have inhabited the earth, and they inhabit the
same places where we live.
They are created and made of the same materials and substance that we
are. We are part and parcel of them. They are as much the children of
God as we are. They are created in the same way that we are. All the
seven are intelligent beings. They have a natural, a voluntary
intelligence, as well as we have. They have an immortal soul. They
are all intelligent beings. They have an immortal soul, and they are
created to have an eternal happiness or joy.
SECTION XVIII.
OF MAN'S PROGRESS.
The history of man in the Bible, and in the world, is the history of
the
